BONHEIDEN - Icoon VDL (Bubalu x Cardento) and Hessel Hoekstra (NED) achieved a fine eighth place in the CSI2* Grand Prix of Bonheiden (BEL) over 1.45m. Icoon VDL is bred by and owned by the VDL Stud. Earlier this month, the successful combination also took third place in the CSI2* Grand Prix of Wierden. In May they finished second in the CSIOJ NC-Y Grand Prix of Wierden for Young Riders over 1.45m.
Zirocco Blue VDL made a lot of noise last week. No less than three classes were won by descendants of this top stallion.
- Helsinki (Zirocco Blue VDL x Indoctro) and Hessel Hoekstra (NED) won the 1.35m in an excellent way and were second in the 1.40m;
- Gesthe van de Vitha (Zirocco Blue x Quite Easy) won the 1.45m class. This Zirocco Blue daughter did this under the saddle of Bart Clarys. She was bred by F. Standaert from Maldegem;
- Irocco Blue S (Zirocco Blue VDL x Numero Uno) won the 1.40m class under Hessel Hoekstra (NED).
Participation with Goldenstar (Bacardi VDL x Ipsylon B) in the small Grand Prix over 1.40m resulted in a nice eighth place for James Billington. In the 1.45m class, the ten-year-old black mare was fourth.
In the young horse classes Kharley (Harley VDL x Indoctro) was successful under the saddle of Gilles Nuytens (BEL): this combination came second and third.
