|Animo||H. Alme Z|
Pessoa’s sire, Animo, jumped at the highest level, having competed at the Olympics of Barcelona and many Grand Prix. Nimmerdor and Ladykiller xx speak for themselves.
Pessoa’s dam is the Dutch Reserve Champion and ‘Keur, Preferent, Prestatie’ mare Zancara, also dam of the approved stallions Great Pleasure, Montreal, and the Grand Prix jumping stallion Bubalu. The granddam of Pessoa is the famous ‘Keur Preferent Prestatie’ mare Shoraya. This mare is one of VDL’s key foundation mares. Her powerful genetics continue through her famous descendants such as: Aldato (approved stallion and Grand Prix jumper), Dehlia (1.50m jumper and National Champion of the ‘Keur’ mares and dam to Grand Prix jumper Quality Boy) and Wildroos (‘Keur Preferent Prestatie’ and mother of the international jumpers Deka, Ishan and Oraya who jumped at 1.40m level). Shoraya’s family line is Holstein nr.474A, also to be found behind the stallions Calato, Azteca VDL, Cavalier ISH, etc.
Pessoa jumped at the highest international level and qualified for the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen but was sidelined by an injury. Placing in several Grand Prix competitions, he won the Grand Prix of Sao Paulo and took 5th in the Grand Prix of Lissabon. As part of the Brazilian Team Pessoa brought home ‘gold’ in the Nations Cups of Argentina and Lissabon.
