The pedigree of Johnnie Walker includes many foundation sires, both directly and indirectly. Sire Zapatero is developing into an excellent breeding stallion. His son Fernando V won the silver medal at the World Championships for 6-year-olds in Lanaken last year and other offspring like Dyango VDL, Datero H and Zapzerap perform successfully at international level as well. Through Zapatero, the bloodlines of both Chin Chin and Ircolando were added to the pedigree of Johnnie Walker. Grandsire Mermus R is a ‘Keur’ awarded stallion and can be found on the dam’s side of many successful show jumper. In addition, Mermus R is a son of the valuable Burggraaf out of a dam by Ramiro. Great-grandsire Upgrade brings in the genes of both Heartbreaker and Pilot, and Marlon is a son of the French foundation sire Zeus. Further back in the pedigree of Johnnie Walker is the ‘Stallion of the Century’ - Nimmerdor.
Johnnie Walker’s dam Elia was awarded ‘Elite’ and earned a score of 80 points in the KWPN mare test. For technique and willingness she received an 8.5, while her scope was given a 9. Grand dam Rianca received the ‘Prestatie’ predicate, due to numerous offspring jumping at 1.30m-level or higher. Additionally, great-grand dam Bianca produced the world-famous show jumper Liberty, who competed at the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, and the Grand Prix-show jumpers Gravutell and Ocana. Bianca also anchored the performance blood of many international show jumpers, such as the well-known Baileys of Michel Hendrix, a current member of the Dutch Olympic squad.
In the KWPN stallion test, Johnnie Walker caught the eye again. For his scope, he attained an 8.5, while he received an 8 for all the other jumping aspects - finishing on a total score of 80.5.
