In the pedigree of Ebony we see three successful Grand Prix stallions and five top dressage sires in a row. His sire is the Grand Prix Dressage stallion Painted Black, son of the successful Grand Prix and noted breeding stallion Gribaldi. Ridden by the Spanish rider, Morgan Barbacon, Painted Black participated at the London Olympics in 2012. Prior to that he was Dutch Champion plus 3rd in the World Cup Final in Las Vegas under Anky van Grunsven. More victories were to come for him in international Grand Prix’s and the Grand Prix Freestyles. For several years, Painted Black was in the top 10 of the WBFSH rankings of dressage horses, with the highest placing of 5th in 2008. Painted Black’s offspring exhibit good technique in their movement, with a willingness to work and good rideability.
The dam line continues to Jazz, Contango, Ulft and Amor, all stallions which have contributed to the premier position of the KWPN on the world stage of breeding and sport. All the world knows of their standard bearers - Parzival, Ravel and Ferro.
Ebony’s dam Vanolite, came from the famous breeder Huub van Helvoirt. She is a sister to the Light Tour stallion Tip-Top and of the Z2 dressage mare Ravolite who in turn is dam of the Light Tour mare Wynona RB and granddam of the approved dressage stallion All at Once. Great-granddam Favorite is a full sister of the UTV mare and Z2 dressage horse Gemsch. Gemsch is dam of the Light Tour and approved KWPN stallion Norway. The dressage horse Romanoff descends from the same damline as Ebony.

Ebony: Attitude, character, rideability and three strong gaits.
Ebony is a stallion with much talent and a super attitude. Ebony was described in his test results as a stallion with very strong hind leg usage. He scored 8.5 for walk, trot, gallop, rideability and his talent as a dressage horse with an overall score of 84 points placing him 3rd in the group. In 2013, as a 4-year old Ebony was very successful in competition placing 4th in the final of the Pavo Cup with 87 points and 3rd in the Subli Cup having won all of the latter’s qualifiers with a final score of 88%.

Dressage stallions Ebony and Cum Laude both sparkled last weekend in the Light Tour under Vai Bruntink. Cum Laude finished at the top in Noord-Sleen while Ebony came in second, and the roles were reversed in Emmeloord.
Several offspring of the dressage stallion Ebony (s. Painted Black) performed very succesfull during the finales of a competition for young dressage horses in Beilen.
