Billy Congo

The stallion Billy Congo, bred in Great Britain, brings fresh blood to show jumping horse breeding. Under William Funnell - who is also the breeder of the stallion - Billy Congo jumps at the highest level and he has already produced a number of successful show jumpers in breeding. Sire Vechta is a son of Voltaire who himself jumped at the highest level under William Funnell. For example, he jumped in the British national team in Rome and Aachen and he was high-placed in numerous Grand Prix and the Derby of Hickstead. Billy Congo then goes back to the well-known sire Animo, who guarantees jumping quality. Great-grandfather Clover Hill is an Irish stallion who is the basis of many successful show jumpers from Ireland and Great Britain.

Palmares

In sports, Billy Congo has already been very successful and has already won some 750,000 euros in prize money in his career. Billy Congo contributed, among other things, to the gold team medal of Great Britain at the European championships in Herning in 2013 and already jumped double clear in the 2010 Hickstead Nations Cup. He also won the three-star Grand Prix of Lummen in 2014 and the World Cup of Donetsk in 2012 and came second in the Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Cannes and Monte Carlo in 2013

Offspring

Billy Congo's descendants are now also doing far above average. His son Billy Onslow jumped very successfully at Grand Prix level with William Funnell and is now ridden by Irish showjumper Darragh Kenny. Billy Fanta also jumps at 1.60m level with William Funnell and Billy Buckingham won the Derby of Eindhoven in 2017 under William Funnell, and then jumped double clear in the Uggerhalne Nations Cup and also performed well in the Nations Cup in Dublin. A relatively large number of other Billy Congo offspring have already achieved international successes and performed excellently in the various young horse competitions in Great Britain.
