Strong performance for VDL offspring at CSI De Wolden 2025

De Wolden, 21 July 2025 - The international show jumping competition CSI De Wolden has once again proven to be fertile ground for VDL offspring. The well-attended competition saw impressive results from several combinations, with exceptional performances from riders on VDL-bred horses.

Night Life impresses with 3 clear rounds
Striking was the dominant performance of Night Life (by Erco van 't Roosakker). Together with Luke Hill, the combination delivered a clear round, showing that they are in top form. Night Life is bred by VDL Stud.

Ofichem's Finn and Weite Oldenziel in shape
Weite Oldenziel showed his best side with Ofichem's Finn (by Zirocco Blue VDL). In the Grand Prix CSI2* on 20 July, the duo finished clear in a handsome third place in a time of 40.56 seconds. Two days earlier there was a fine second place in the CSI1* Gold Tour (40.32 seconds), good for €5,640 in prize money. The Zirocco Blue son is bred by O.H. Oldenziel.

Young horse successes: Carrera VDL offspring catch the eye
In the young horses, the offspring of Carrera VDL particularly impressed. In the final for five-year-old horses on 19 July, there was a second place for Purple Rain under Mart Ijland, with a fast clear round of 40.18 seconds. The young Carrera son is bred by H.P. Cazemier. Prelude (by Carrera), bred by B.A.M. Booijink and ridden by Jessie Wiefferink, finished fourth (0/0/41.25).
The Dutch also scored in the six-year-olds. Renate Beuving sent Otra Vez (by Dakar VDL) to a neat fourth place. The Dakar son is bred by C. Bethlehem. Apardi son Onno VDL bred by VDL Stud finished fifth with Luke Hill.

British rider Luke Hill excels with VDL horses
British rider Luke Hill stood out with strong results on several VDL stallions. With VDL Sambucci de Muze, he took fourth place in the CSI2* Championat (0/0/40.68). Sambucci de Muze is a son of Hunters Scendro bred by Joris de Brabander. 7th place went to McAllister VDL (by Inaico) with Jur Vrieling. McAllister is bred by VDL Stud and is out of the Preferente Emilion mare Zoklahoma. There was also more success for yet another Inaico offspring. Napardi VDL came 2nd with Luke Hill in the CSI1* Big Tour, bred by the VDL Stud. First place was for the Carrera son 2Join Hartford and Vannessa Hajkova. Carrera, bred by D. Tolner, proved unbeatable in the class against the clock. Zinelord VDL (by Zinedream) managed to finish in a nice 6th place in the same class with Marcel de Boer. Zinelord is bred by Heinrich Ramsbrock.

Dutch ladies strongly represented
Among the ladies, it was Renate Beuving, among others, who made her mark with good performances on Nevada W (by Dallas) - first in the AllezFlex Prize on 17 July and fourth in the Big Tour CSI1*. Nevada W (by Dallas) is bred by J.W. van Wessel. Marriet Smit-Hoekstra also managed to convince with a victory on Wadro's Maggie May (by Zirocco Blue) in the Bronze Tour on 17 July, bred by J. Vrieling.

Clear round for Landino VDL in Grand Prix 1*
Finally, Landino VDL under Wesley ter Harmsel jumped clear in the 1* Grand Prix - a performance that gives hope for the future of this promising horse. Landino VDL is bred by the VDL Stud and is a son of Stakkato Gold.
