Techerry VDL was crowned National Champion of the three-year-old jumping mares yesterday in Ermelo. The homebred mare is a daughter of Chacco-Blue out of our top broodmare Becherry (by Stakkato). Becherry has already produced several successful showjumpers, including the successful 1.60m Grand Prix horse Farrel VDL, ridden by Daniel Coyle, and the 1.50m showjumper Gouvernante VDL. Gouvernante VDL was also crowned champion in Ermelo as a three-year-old mare. With her attractive model, quality and convincing jumping ability, Techerry VDL made a strong impression throughout the championship and ultimately secured the national title.
With no fewer than four VDL mares in the final, it was a very successful day for VDL breeding.
Third place went to Tiabanda VDL (Zirocco Blue VDL x Argentinus). Tiabanda VDL was previously champion of the Central Mare Inspection in Friesland and was bred out of the Grand Prix showjumping mare Banda de Hus.
A strong fifth place went to Techery VDL, a daughter of Neymar VDL out of Hechery VDL (by Indorado). Hechery VDL is also a daughter of the Stakkato mare Becherry, making her closely related to national champion Techerry VDL.
Carla PB Z (Carrera VDL x Quaprice Z) finished in a fine sixth place. VDL Stud purchased this mare as a foal from breeder P. Bastiaansen from Tilburg.
Tina Turner van de Duinbosschen (New Pleasure VDL x Ustinov) also qualified for the final and finished in 11th place. She was bred by and is owned by Judith van Kalmthout from Schijf.
