Douglas’s sires and grandsires have already produced many top quality jumpers and stallions like Sapphire, Parco, Indoctro, Carthago, Roderik, Cardento, Landgraf and Lord.
Also the dam-line brings the necessary jumping genes. This Holsteiner line 318D2 has also brought the stallions Corofino and Coriano, who both have jumped Grand Prix’s. Three full brothers out of Douglas’s great-grand dam are approved stallions, they are: Lido, Leonardo and Lekar, last both did S-jumping. Lido was also an important sire and a famous Event horse.
Douglas possesses unlimited scope and the best technique. He did his stallion test in Adelheidsdorf as a 3 year old stallion and he became 1st in jumping with 139.49. Marks for the jumping portion were 10, 9.3, 9.3 and 9½.
As a 4 year old Douglas was the Champion of Ireland in his age group and he also won the young horse jumping classes, four times. Also when he was 5, 6 and 7 years old he became a finalist at the Irish Championships. When he was 6 year old he became reserve Champion. Douglas competed successfully in the international 1.40m and 1.50m classes with rider Conor Swail, he was 2nd and 4th in Dublin, 2nd in the B&R 1.40m Grand Prix, 3rd in the Dunlaoghaire 1.50m Grand Prix and 6th in the Rolestown 1.40m Grand Prix. Unfortunately a serious injury ended Douglas his sport career.
Douglas passes on his jumping genes to his offspring. At international level the first offspring of Douglas are present: Crosstown Skylight won a 1.40m class in Rotterdam, Suma’s Zorro and Merrywell Alfie Douglas perform remarkably at international classes for young horses and Carneyhaugh Manx won the finals for 6- and 7-year old jumpers during the Cavan International Horse show. HHS Daisy won 2 classes for 7-year old jumpers at the CSI Vilamoure in Portugal. In The Netherlands Douglas offspring have striking results as well: Colorado was the most expensive horse in the Expo Talent Sale, he was sold for Ä 340.000, Dallas VDL was approved by the Zangersheide Studbook and passed his performance tests impressively, Camillo VDL won the L-finals in Zuidbroek and Dolivia got 85 points for her IBOP test. At the National Free Jumping Championship 2010 his daughter Cirnanda, became the Dutch Champion.
In 2009 Douglas Cavalier became Irish Champion of the 3 year old jumpers and his son D’Inzeo was approved.
Douglas meets the Sport, PROK and cornage criteria of the KWPN.
