The impressive grey stallion Cartello is none other than the half-brother of the legendary sire Cardento. Ridden by Sweden’s Peter Eriksson, Cardento won three team silver medals at the European Championships, the World Equestrian Games and the Olympic Games. Today, Cardento is among world’s best sires and is ranked 13th on the WBFSH Sire Ranking. His offspring like Carrera VDL, Carisma, H&M Flip’s Little Sparrow, Vatson Sitte and Corporal VDL are just a few examples standing out at Grand Prix level.
Cartello’s sire Cartani, a son of Carthago, competed at the highest level with Charlotte von Rönne. Cartani’s dam Taggi was a phenomenon herself and ridden by Sören von Rönne earned individual bronze and team gold at the World Equestrian Games in The Hague 1994. Grandsire Lord is seen as one of the true foundation sires of modern sport horse breeding and great-grandsire Sacramento Song xx has been one of the most influential thoroughbred stallions in breeding of warmbloods.
Besides Cardento and Cartello, dam B-Estelle brought the Holstein Approved Conquest, who jumped at 1.50 m level. In addition, B-Estelle is the grand dam to the esteemed Quintender who performed at international level under Ludo Philippaerts and is now ridden by Tiffany Foster and is the great-granddam to Marco Kutscher’s extremely talented Quadros.
Last year, Cartello himself, demonstrated his great talent for show jumping’s highest levels. Ridden by James Billington, Cartello won the Grand Prix of CSI Wierden at just the age of eight, following a second placing one week earlier in a major class at CSI Roosendaal. Cartello continued to perform at Grand Prix level, including a 5th place in the Grand Prix of Asten and a 6th place in the prestigious Grand Prix of Jumping De Driehoek in Ommen. James Billington and Cartello’s highlight of 2015 was without a doubt the bronze medal in the Sires of the World at the World Championships in Lanaken.
Again and again Cartello impresses with endless ability and great technique. The bigger and tougher the courses, the better the half-brother of Cardento jumps.
Cartello will be available for breeding for the first time in 2016 through frozen semen.
