Do you have a question about Zapatero VDL
Horse: Zapatero VDL
Bith date: 2004
Colour: Darkbay
Height: 168m
Approved with: KWPN,
Pedigree: Chin Chin - Ircolando - Notaris - Joost
The sire of Zapatero VDL, Chin Chin, competed at the Barcelona and Seoul Olympic Games as well as the World Championship in Stockholm and in World Cup Finals. Grandsire Ircolando is father of international jumpers like: Ness Go, Carnivale and Orlando. The stallions Notaris and Joost have produced many Grand Prix Jumping horses. Zapatero’s father-line consists of proven sires in Sport and Breeding and by using Zapatero it ensures those stallions’ genes for the future.
Zapatero’s mother is the ‘Elite and Sport’ mare Manieta. She competed under the name Brugman’s Princes at International level and won the National Championship for 4 year old jumpers. Grandmother Anita received the ‘Prestatie’ predicate through her daughter Brugman’s Princess, her son Orlando who competed at International level and she produced other Z and ZZ jumpers.
Zapatero was Reserve Champion at the Stallion approvals in 2007 and completed a good stallion 70 day test.
In the sport Zapatero achieves as predicted. As a 4 year old he was reserve Champion at the stallion competition of 1.10m. Angelique Hoorn now competes with him at international level. They have already secured good results in several international horse shows for the younger ages. They placed 11th in the Dutch Championship for 7 years old jumpers, placed 2nd in the finals of the Youngster Tour at Geesteren, placed 8th in a 1.35m class at the Wolden and at CSI Eindhoven they made 2 clear rounds in 1.35m classes. Zapatero also jumped his first 1.40m classes with good results.
Zapatero received a very good foal report. His foals are a pretty type and show a great canter. In 2009 five foals were selected for the National Foal Championships with two making the finals: Eopera VDL placed 5th and Elleminka placed 10th.
Zapatero’s first offspring are showing extra reflexes, technique and scope in their free-jumping. His 3 years old son Zapzerap was the highest priced horse at the auction of Marbach in Germany, selling for Ä 55.000.
Expected Breeding value: 151.
