Freeman is very well-bred with Emilion-son VDL Emmerton as his sire, who was Dutch Jumping Champion in 2008 with Jur Vrieling. Maternal grand sire is the two time Olympic stallion Chin Chin and then we find the ‘Preferent’ sire Ahorn.
Freeman’s dam is the ‘Keur’ mare Be Helena VDL who, as a 3-year old, placed 4th at the National Mare Show scoring 80 points for her IBOP. Her full sister is the Dutch Free Jumping Champion Welena VDL - the mother of the Grand Prix show jumper Celena VDL, who was, among other achievements, winner of the GP Samorin and 3rd in the World Cup of Helsinki. Freeman’s grand dam is the famous Ahorn-daughter Helena - European Champion in 1992. Helena carries the predicates ‘Keur, Preferent and Prestatie’ from her children Southwind VDL (Grand Prix show jumper) and of the international jumpers Pan Am VDL and Onatello VDL. Great grandmother is the ‘Preferent and Prestatie’ mare Azemieka, who is known as one of the best Dutch broodmares ever. Among her offspring are the international jumping and approved stallions Everest, Glennridge and Arkansas as well as the international jumpers Lely, North Gammon and Jezetro.
As a 3-year old, Freeman was Champion of the KWPN Stallion Show.
In sport, Freeman performs as expected with Jur Vrieling. As a 4-year old he won the KWPN Stallion Competition of the 1.10m class. As a 5-year old Freeman again wowed with clear rounds in Ermelo and Zuidbroek and in the final he placed 5th. As a 6-year old he made his international debut under Jur Vrieling in Leszno with three clear rounds and three placings: two 5th‘s and one 6th. At the CSI Wierden, Freeman put in three more clear rounds. In the KWPN Stallion Competitions he won in Ermelo and placed 3rd in Zuidbroek. Again, jumping clear in Kronenberg and in the final round at ’s Hertogenbosch Freeman secured the reserve champion neck ribbon, before he finished his season with a 2nd in the 1.35m final of Leszno. Freeman started this year with a win in Drachten and is now jumping at 1.40m level.
His first offspring turn 3 years now. They are beautiful, complete horses with a good jump. At several shows and championships there were good results for his offspring: Monaco placed 4th and Merelsinaa 8th at the CK Friesland.
Lord-Freeman placed 6th in the final of the Dutch Foal Championship and was reserve champion at the CK Groningen. Ponka A was Champion at the BWP mare Championship. In 2015, Kasander was Champion of Friesland, Kaprisha L was Champion of Groningen and finished 7th in the final of the Dutch Foal Championships.
The combination of the Sina and Azemieka line in his pedigree, together with his handsome exterior, his gaits and his convincing way of jumping gives Freeman great promise for the future.
