Douglas competed successfully in the international 1.50m classes with rider Conor Swail. Unfortunately, a serious injury ended Douglas’ sports career, but his enormous scope and jumping technique will never be forgotten. As a 3-year old, Douglas underwent his stallion test in Adelheidsdorf, earning the 1st place in jumping with 139.49. As a 4-year old Douglas was the Champion of Ireland in his age group. At the age of 6, he was Irish Reserve Champion.


Offspring of Douglas are in the spotlight at the highest level. Suma’s Zorro participated at the World Equestrian Games in Normandy 2014 and won several Grand Prix competitions; in 2016 he won the GP of Barcelona. Dougie Douglas was sold for 1.4 million Euros at the Goresbridge Auction and has been very successful with both Holly Gillot and Katherine Dinan. He won the Grand Prix and the Nations Cup of Odense in a single weekend and was winner of the Nations Cup in Rome. Guru won the Nations Cup of Coapexpan and was 2nd in the Mexican jumping Championship. Dundalk won the GP Ising am Chiemsee and Chinook W was winner of the Cagnes-sur-Mer GP. Erne Ladygoldilocks was the Irish jumping Champion.

Other international show jumpers by Douglas are: Abbervail Lightening, Abbervail Amber, Ardragh Grandslam, Abbeylara Prince Be Be, Boleybawn Perfection, C’Est la Vie, Coral Springs, Curra River, Curra Glas, Darling HDH, Delano, HHS Dublin, HHS Diamond, Dirk HDH, Durania K, Dollanstown, Evangeline, Fly With Me, Honeylands Doug-lason, Houpette, Millionmind, Mr. Rocke-feller, Neat Krakatoa, Payday, Star Carrow Douglas, Rincoola Black Adder, Vinny Douglas etc.

Dartagnan was Reserve Champion of the 7-year old show jumpers at the American East Coast Series. Camillo VDL won the Championship for 5-year olds in Dublin and then took the Irish Championship for 5-year olds. Carneyhaugh Manx was Champion of the American East Coast of the 7- and 8-years old jumpers.

Descendants of Douglas were sold for enormous prices at several auctions. Daddy Cool sold for Ä 300.000 at the Jumping Talent Sale 2016, De Beers sold for $ 190.000 at the WEF Sport Horse Auction 2015, while in 2014 Excel sold for $ 150.000, Douplesse for $ 130.000 and Discovery for $ 145.000. Darko Z sold at the Foal Auction Zangersheide 2014 for € 24.000, while Colorado sold at Expo Talent Sale 2011 for € 340.000.

Daughters Hanoliva VDL and Dolivia both earned 85 points for their IBOP test. At the National Free Jumping Championship 2010, Douglas daughter Cirnanda, became the Dutch Champion.

Douglas has numerous approved sons.

Thanks to the outstanding performances of his offspring Douglas received the predicate ‘Prestatie-Fok’ of the NRPS studbook.

Douglas meets the Sport, PROK and Roaring criteria of the KWPN.
